This camp was completed in the late 30s, and served as a retreat for Dr Paul Rusch and his boarding school. The dormitory has a great view of the Mount Fuji. While it has burned down in 1955, it was rebuilt a few years later, and the dormitory is still a very popular touristic spot. You can stay in the dormitory overnight, as well.

This village is hidden in the forest, recalling the quaint style of old, European-style buildings. It feels like you are transported into a fairy tale once you step into this charming world. There are many unique shops and restaurants located in this area, as well as a merry-go-round in the middle of the forest. Enjoy walking around the picturesque scene, and drop into the music box museum when you’re here! Depending on the season, the Kiyosato Field Ballet may also be putting up shows.

This is a chicken farm that does not only sell its products directly to customers, but also has a restaurant set up on the premises, where visitors can try the local products. Try an authentic oyakodon (popular Japanese dish, using chicken and eggs) or enjoy other delicacies prepared on site. There are also dessert options available.

Takizawa Ranch offers a lot of hands-on experiences for visitors. You can try milking cows, planting vegetables, harvesting, and horseback riding as well. There is also delicious handmade ice cream available. The Takizawa Ranch Festival, held yearly, offers more attractions, such as bingo. Since the admission is free, it is a must-go if you are in the area!

This museum is the home of a collection of works by Hirayama Ikuo, who painted in the traditional Japanese style in the post-war period. Being subjected to the after effects of radiation sickness after surviving the Hiroshima atomic bomb disaster, he started to focus his art on Buddhism and world peace.
Apart from Hirayama’s work, the museum also displays his collection of Silk Road art, which he accumulated from the late sixties.
The museum was renovated recently, in an attempt to make it more accessible to visitors, by making it barrier-free.

This park is an enclosed part of the public Yatsugatake Ranch. From here, you can watch animals on the ranch, and also enjoy a petting farm where you can meet ponies, sheep, and other farm animals. There are also restaurants available in the park, which use locally grown ingredients and offer flavours popular in the area.

This highland park is located in the Yamanashi Prefecture. You can take a panorama lift to the top of the mountain, and relax on the outdoor sofas of the mountain, while enjoying the beautiful view. There is also a café available here, serving delicious pancakes. Restaurant Sundance offers an abundant buffet of fresh vegetables and healthy dishes. There is also the Kiyosato Bakery, operating on the mountain, offering morning menus including salad and coffee as well. Other than that, you can also enjoy shopping for jams, sweets, sake, and wine, as well and handcrafted materials. There are also walking courses available that take you along the beautiful area.

Hakushu is one of the most famous water areas in Japan, and it is the source of the Suntory-produced malt whisky. Suntory invites you to take a look at the distillery from the inside, and learn more about the process of creating delicious whisky. You can choose to explore the distillery yourself (does not include watching the production process) or take a guided tour, with a special viewing of the production process.
The areas in the distillery include the Suntory Museum of Whisky, Hakushu’s own souvenir shop, a forest restaurant White Terrace where you can enjoy dishes that go well with whisky, and a bar, including limited edition whisky as well. The Bird Sanctuary in the forest trail re-open 26 April 2019 where you can observe many wild birds.

The annual Hokuto Akeno Sunflower Festival is held there every year. With around 600 000 sunflowers spreading across these fields, this is surely is a scene you don’t often get to see. During the festival, you can enjoy ice cream with sunflower seeds, fresh vegetables and a lot of local goods.
