This is one of Japan’s three largest morning markets. It is said that this market dates back to the Heian period. You can enjoy this bustling market until noon. Here you can learn more about the method of salt production used in the Noto Peninsula, Ishikawa Prefecture. The salt is harvested from sea water, and then produced through boiling it on high temperatures for around sixteen hours. Six hundred litres of sea water is able to produce around 120 kilograms of salt. It is also possible to buy several products here with the special boiled salt.
